WHO WE ARE
The Fairfax County Federation of Teachers (FCFT) was chartered in 1972. FCFT is a local affiliate of AFT — a national union representing 1.8 million education, healthcare, and public service workers. FCFT is also an affiliate of the AFL-CIO. We are a member-driven organizing union representing all non-managerial employees of Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). FCFT members are teachers, counselors, librarians, instructional assistants, clerical employees, bus drivers, custodians, food service workers, maintenance and trades staff, and other staff who work hard to make our schools succeed. We are partnered with Fairfax Education Association (FEA) as the Fairfax Education Unions (FEU) - the exclusive representative and bargaining agent for all operational and licensed instructional employees of FCPS.
JOIN YOUR UNION. DEFEND YOUR CONTRACT.
Active union members are the first line of defense to protect worker rights and enforce the FEU contracts. FCFT has a culture of organizing and members stand together to ensure that every right won in our contracts is upheld. Stewards are the leaders in contract enforcement and worksite union leadership. If you are a member looking to develop as a leader, email organizers@fcft.org for information about steward training.
PUBLIC SCHOOLS WORK. WE MAKE THE WORK HAPPEN.

FCFT IN ACTION
As FCFT members, we organize to make our schools better by putting pressure on FCPS and our elected officials, and lobbying local and state government for policies that directly impact educational workers and working families. FCFT members are fighting to strengthen workers' voices in the school system through measures like collective bargaining. FCFT supports pro-education, pro-worker candidates in local and state elections.
