BUDGET CAMPAIGN FY27

Last year, Fairfax County underfunded our FCPS budget – and we pay for it every day.

DON'T LET POLITICIANS SHORTCHANGE SCHOOLS

Workloads are heavier. Class sizes are larger. Workers aren’t valued or retained. Working conditions are learning conditions. How much more can you take? Educational workers, parents, and community members across the county are organizing for a fully-funded FCPS. Together, we have the power to demand better of our elected officials. Join the fight!

BUDGET ROADMAP

Confused about the budget process?

  1. It all starts at the state level: The Virginia General Assembly allocates funding to school districts across the state.

  2. The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors (BOS) appropriates funds at the local level:  The Fairfax County BOS approves the final county budget and allocates money to FCPS.

  3. Whatever the BOS appropriates gets kicked to the School Board:  The FCPS School Board is responsible for creating the final FCPS budget with the money allocated from the BOS.

  4. THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PROCESS: you and your coworkers need to get involved to advocate for full funding of FCPS.
