The Fairfax County Federation of Teachers (FCFT) is gearing up for the 2019 local Election for President, 1st Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, 8 Vice Presidents and 1 Vice President for Retirees. Election will take place on February 4, 2019.

Any member of FCFT who is in good standing and meets the minimum criteria is eligible to run for office.

Notice of Election: Notice of the Election & Nomination Petitions will be sent by first-class mail to members’ last known home address by January 7, 2019 and also we posted on FCFT's website.

Nomination Petitions: Nomination Petitions for office will be accepted until 5pm on January 22, 2019. 

Nomination Petitions must include the original “wet” signatures of at least ten (10) non-Executive Board members of the Federation in good standing.

Membership will be notified of candidate(s) running for each position by e-mail and FCFT's Website. In the event of multiple petitions for a position, an electronic election will be held.

Election Process:Officers will be elected through online voting on the first Monday in February and voting will remain  open for 14 days.  The vote will be a plurality vote; the candidate with the most votes will be deemed the winner.

*If there are school closures for inclement weather or holidays, any deadline effected by the closure shall occur on the following school day or be extended in the reasonable discretion of the Election Committee.
